About

Hi!

My name is Maegan. I’m a newlywed, a social worker, and a wine lover. I currently live in Texas with my husband (Nick, AKA Husbae) and our dog, Wedge Antilles.

My favorite food is whipped cream, my favorite song is Tricky by Run DMC, and I can do a Cher impression that will make you go – “HOLD ON, is that CHER?!”. I’m also a very big fan of Bob’s Burgers. All of that to say, I am 26 years old.

Also, I have breast cancer. Triple Negative Stage II Invasive Ductal Carcinoma.

Cancer is basically a giant bummer. Cancer strips away so much and leaves you feeling incredibly vulnerable and unknown, even to those who love you most.  This isn’t to say that cancer hasn’t opened my eyes and made me find happiness and humor in things I never thought possible. Cancer has made me aware of how truly amazing community is and how people truly and deeply care for one another. For that I am grateful.

When I’m feeling up to it, the blog will be updated with the following things:

  • Information about my cancer and treatment protocol including updates
  • Information on breast cancer including self exams, triple negative awareness, and anything else I find interesting
  • My Netflix queue (among other random things). Because if there’s something you get really good at doing while you’re recovering from chemo, it’s watching the hell out of some Netflix.

I have hopes that you’ll learn something, whether it be what not to say to someone with cancer or what all the crazy terminology means. If there’s something you want to know, please don’t hesitate to ask. This will be a learning experience for all of us and I am thankful you have decided to join me.

-Maeg

All positive thoughts, prayers, texts, emails, cards, and well wishes are greatly appreciated! If you would like to help monetarily, my friends have set up a GoFundMe to help Nick and I offset the cost of the treatment and everything else that comes along with this diagnosis. Unfortunately I have used up all of my PTO and my work does not have short term disability so when I am not able to get to work I have no income. Anything is absolutely helpful. Thank you!
